2016 Race Calendar

Next year we will be busy with 5 days of races organised by GTC including a weekend of sport at Strathclyde Park with our partner Durty Events. Strathclyde Park has been confirmed as host to the ITU 2016 Sprint Qualifiers and the ETU 2017 Sprint Qualifiers. We are also hosting the ITU WORLD SERIES PARATRIATHLON

  • Sunday March 20th (morning) – Spring Aquathlon
  • Sunday May 8th (all day) – Bishopbriggs Triathlon
  • Saturday June 4th (all day) – Strathclyde Park Multisport day 1
  • Sunday June 5th (all day) – Strathclyde Park Multisport day 2
  • Sunday August 21st (morning) – Autumn Aquathlon

Training Calendar

GTC has a number of sessions for members focused on swimming, cycling and running taking place throughout the week. We always welcome new members and we have specific sessions for people who are new to swimming (we call them runners or cyclists). Your first session is free and then we ask that you join up.

They are a combination of sessions that are under the guidance of our qualified coaches and more informal, non-coached sessions which are organised by members via the forum.

Each session is aimed to cater for all levels of ability and you are welcome to take part in as few or as many as you wish


It’s no longer summer, so this session will restart in 2016.
Meeting place, Ivy India (previously known as Malletsheugh Inn, A77), Ayr Road, Newton MearnsGlasgow G77 6RT, @ 6: 30 – 6:45pm.  This will usually take the form of a 10mile cycle time trial once a month (followed by curry buffet) and intervals or APR’s (Australian Pursuit Racing – if you don’t know what this is, don’t worry – just come along – its fun).

MONDAY (usually middle Monday of month) – RACE FOCUS GROUP 7-9pm,

Throughout the winter this groups will meet at Glasgow High School Kelvinside Sports Club (GHK) Enter GHK from the Glasgow High School entrance on Anniesland Road. The sessions are announced through our ‘Transitions and other sessions‘ page.

So keep your eyes peeled.


Glasgow Club Maryhill – 34 Gairbraid Avenue, Glasgow, G20 8YE.  A fun session for 8-15 year olds.  Learn everything there is to know about triathlon from our experienced coaches.  £2.  Parental consent forms must be completed.

6 – 7pm swim

7 – 8pm run (usually outdoors, so please bring warm and reflective clothes)


Glasgow Club Maryhill – 34 Gairbraid Avenue, Glasgow, G20 8YE

This year we have introduced a short trail/riverside run before each session, so leaving at 18:15 and 19:15 to get a pre-swim run – £1.50.

7 – 8pm: This session focuses on lane 1: development/novice, lane 2: improvers, and will concentrate on front crawl technique and fitness covering a distance of around 1.5K – 2k

8 – 9pm: This is for all levels of triathletes, and will concentrate on developing aerobic and anaerobic endurance for triathlon events, covering 1.5K – 3K. Please note that places for each session are limited and will give given on first come, first serve basis.  £3.00 per session (£2:00 students / concessions + 16-18 yrs, U16’s – free, non members £10)


From 7th October 2015, 20:00. Spin studio at Western Health & Racquets Club, 30 Hyndland Road, Glasgow, G12 9UP. The spin studio has its own website Boiler Room Fitness This session is becoming popular so make sure you book in.

These group running sessions are aimed at development of aerobic endurance and strength during the winter month with sessions grouped into four week blocks. They are open to all abilities and tailored accordingly. Please wear reflective / bright clothing – it’s important that we can be seen on the roads.

SATURDAY RUGGED RUN SESSION (every 4 weeks or so)

A longer, steadier run session. These are advertised on the Forum and Facebook pages.  Usually held in spectacular local hill locations.  Please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and bring food/drinks – you will not be allowed to run with the group without these. Mobile phones are also recommended as something to bring along.


Glasgow Club Maryhill, 2-4pm.  This is a multi-discipline, mega-fun session aimed at 8-16 year olds.  You will develop skills and fitness and a few things about triathlon!


Our rugged run series is back every two weeks throughout winter alternating North and South. Sat 31st October War memorial Strathblane for 13km, no-one get’s left behind.

SUNDAY SWIM SESSIONS Western Baths, Cranworth Street, West End, Glasgow G12

7.30 – 8.30pm – meet at 19:10 in the foyer. This is for all levels of triathletes, and will concentrate on developing aerobic and anaerobic endurance for triathlon events, covering between 1.5K – 3K.

8.30 – 9.30pm – Learners and improvers session – specially designed to suit beginners and to develop your stroke. Please note that places for each session are limited and will give given on first come, first serve basis.  £3.00 (£2:00 for students / concessions + 16-18yrs)


There are often other sessions that are arranged at specific times throughout the year, so keep an eye on the Training link and on Facebook for any announcements.  Typical sessions might be transition skills, Brick (that’s bike + run) sessions, swim filming..
