Entries are full for the Sprint and novice distances for adults and the junior races and a waiting list is in operation.
This event could not operate without the generous support of club volunteers. If you can give up some time to assist please get in touch with Susan Gallagher.
If you are helping with the organisation or you are racing please take a look at the Briggs Brief 2018.
Working hard behind the scenes
The club triathlon would not happen without the support and dedication of club members. Some of the key people include
Bob Newton, who is the key driving force behind the event, and a mentor to Race Director Duggie Mac.
Russell Snowden looks after all the entries and produces the swim heat schedules based on swim time estimates (not an easy job!). The swim times/heats are given to the timing chip company, the registration leads and the swim leads for use on the day.
One aspect of the GTC team approach to this event is that club members can learn from each other. For example, Russell learned what to do directly from Pete Wightman, who did this role before.
Susan Gallagher is volunteer coordinator. She has pulled together around 90 fellow club members, who will help to deliver the event.
There are also a host of area leads and volunteers, as well as the cake stall organisers and bakers.
It’s good to be able to give something back to our fantastic club, so if you can volunteer on May 6 please do.
