Member’s Digest #5

Good afternoon, good evening and goodnight (this covers all options for when I get around to sending this….unless it’s in the morning),

A big GTC weekend! We had an excellent turnout for Super Summer Series intro ride #1 on Saturday, with 19 riders battling the wind down to Jacks in Stewarton for some cake and caffeine refreshments before getting blown back home. Was great to see so many new faces out. Super summer series intro ride #2 will be on Saturday 5th of April, meeting at the Kirkhouse Inn in Strathblane for some northside fun (further details in next email). Don’t let that stop you from getting out this weekend, why not use the website or facebook page to arrange a ride?

Sunday saw the sun shining for the GTC Spring Junior Aquathlon. A great turnout of both kids and volunteers made for a successful event, well done Stewart and thanks to all those who showed up to help. A big well done to our junior section as this was the first race for many of them and apparently they loved it!

The next GTC organized races are Bishopbriggs Sprint on May 4th (star wars day) and Strathclyde multisport weekend with a 10km on Saturday 17th May and the standard distance triathlon on Sunday 18th May. Lots of volunteers will be required for both of these events – I am co-ordinating the volunteers for for ‘Briggs as Pete Soden is for Strathclyde so please let me know if you (as well as any family and friends who would like to) are available to volunteer. If you are racing, please consider offering a volunteer in your stead or get involved in set-up/break down operations. You can sign up by responding to this email or the website post and a post will go up on facebook soon.

Wednesday 26th of March will be the last of Sean’s fantastic winter spin classes so be sure to get yourself along for one final discotastic session! Keep your eye on the website and facebook for details of road-based interval sessions/TTs/APRs for the summer months – coming very soon.

David and Rose are offering some swim filming slots on Sunday nights in April – these are on a first come, first served basis by signing up on the website and are only available to paid-up members, so be sure to join if you haven’t already!

Don’t forget that the Western Baths is closed this Sunday 30th March for their annual closure.

Beth Lockhart was parkrunning at Strathclyde parkrun, coming in at 31:44, and Bruce Henry and Mark Cohen were parkrunning at Victoria Park, finishing in 19:59 and 24:36 respectively.

Remember to send me any results or anything you’d like to share! Good luck to anyone taking part at Stirling duathlon this weekend.
