Member’s Digest #7

Good evening,

As last week, I’m still requesting more volunteers forBishopbriggs triathlon on Sunday May 4th. You can sign up on the websitefacebook or by return email. If you’re racing you can help with set-up/break down/registration or if you’re unavailable on that day, there will be envelope stuffing duties you can help with on 1st May after run session. Volunteers will also be required for the Strathclyde multi-sport weekend on 17th/18th May (and as with ‘Briggs, you can also help with set-up, breakdown or envelope stuffing on 16th May). Note that swim training will not run on the evening of Bishopbriggs triathlon, we will be planning some kind of social event, so no excuses for missing out on volunteering fun!

Super Summer Series intro ride #2 was a slightly damp affair but had 17 cyclists rock up for a tour of the northside on Saturday. The first official Super Summer Series ride of the year will be a cycle on Arran on Easter Monday (21st April), watch out for details soon.

As one of the many benefits of being a GTC member, the club has powertaps available for hire. For the uninitiated, these allow you to monitor what your power output is as you cycle and can be a very useful training tool. If anyone is interested, please email me and I can send on the information and hire documents.

Vicky has confirmed that the brick session mentioned in last week’s email will go ahead on Sunday 13th April at 10am at Oakwood Garden centre, Killearn (G63 9PT).

The ONLY kit order for 2014 will be going in on Sunday 13th April. Please consult the information in the members area of our website (you will need to log-in to view this page) in order to obtain instructions on how to order the kitvia the champion systems website.

Another running type weekend with a few members putting in some long miles. Neal Robertson ran Lochaber Marathon on Sunday, coming in 5th position overall and in a new PB of 2:48:57 (speedy gonzalez!) Also marathon-ing were Alan Kennedy and Nick Vaughan over in Paris, running 4:08:29 and 4:12:19 respectively.

Parkrunning @ Tollcross was Mark Cohen in 25:06, @ Ormskirk was Christine Little in 24:07 and PB-ing @ Victoria Park were Bruce Henry in 19:09 and Stephen Macintyre in 19:38. Stephen has taken almost a full minute off his parkrun time this year, with three PBs in 2014 and this was his first time sub-20!

Well done to all our weekend runners.

Don’t forget to send me any chat/queries or results you want included =)
