GTC partnered with Durty Events to organise and host the Strathclyde Park Multisport Festival at the weekend. This included the ETU and World sprint triathlon age group qualifier races, two open sprint triathlons, junior triathlons, a 10k and an ITU ParaTri world series event.
Many GTC members raced and many, many more volunteered their support over one, two or more days. This is a message of thanks from Paul McGreal, of Durty Events. Everyone should be very proud of giving up their time to help with a very successful weekend.
Paul writes: “I hope you all the volunteers from GTC enjoyed a well-earned beer last night (or Saturday night) and are basking in the glow of a job well done.
“I want to say the largest possible thanks to the members of GTC for their amazing support over the weekend. It’s often said, and in this case certainly true: ‘We couldn’t have done it without you.’
“I was extremely impressed at the level of skill, enthusiasm, dedication, commitment, knowledge and can-do attitude that everyone brought to the event. These things make a huge difference to the quality of the event, the competitor experience and also my stress levels!
“I was extremely proud over the weekend to be associated with the club, and also at the achievements of the Scottish triathlon community.
“By working together, we all achieved something significant: A great event and proof that we are well able to deliver prestigious events of this scale largely with our own resources within Scotland.”
