Weekly swim sessions

We have 17 sessions each week. To find out more see Swim Squad Sessions. It is important to also read GTC Squads.

Monday: Cycle fitness

This is a coached session on the first Monday of the summer months. It takes the form of a 10-mile Time Trial (TT), intervals or an APR (Australian Pursuit Racing) .

Members do meet on other Mondays at the same time for an informal TT ride or intervals session. Keep an eye on Facebook for details.

Meet at Indian Platform Southside (previously known as Malletsheugh Inn, A77), on Ayr Road, Newton MearnsGlasgow G77 6RT, @ 6: 30 – 6:45pm.  

Tuesday: Running & swimming

Glasgow Club Maryhill, 34 Gairbraid Avenue, Glasgow, G20 8YE

Running:  6pm – 7pm A short run training session before the 7pm swim. Leaves the Maryhill Club pool foyer at 6.10pm prompt and returns in time for the swim. Suitable for all levels.

Cost: £1.50.

Wednesday/Friday: Open water swimming

These sessions are NOT COACHED. However, open water swimming is best done with other people and many members head to one of the local lochs, such as Loch Lomond and Loch Ard, to swim. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for details of these informal sessions.

Thursday: Pinkston Open-Water Coached Swimming

6.30am – 7.30am

Cost: £5*

Arrive early, ready in your wetsuit to swim by 6.30am. This is a coached session aimed at developing open-water swim skills and endurance swimming.  Open to all abilities and tailored accordingly.  Bring warm clothes for pre and post swim.  Showering and toilet facilities on site.

Thursday: Running

Southside session

Cost: £2.25

Meet at front door at 6.30pm. Depart 6:45om.

Group running sessions to develop technique, aerobic endurance and strength.  Open to all abilities and tailored accordingly. Wear reflective/bright clothing.

West End session

Western Baths, 12 Cranworth Street, Glasgow G12 8BZ.

Cost: £2.25

Meet at 6.30pm for a 6:45pm start. One hour session.

Group running sessions to develop technique, aerobic endurance and strength.  Open to all abilities and tailored accordingly. Wear reflective/bright clothing.

Sunday, 7-8pm

There are often other sessions that are arranged at specific times throughout the year, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for any announcements.  Typical sessions might be transition skills, “brick” (bike + run) and swim filming.
