Winter training

This GTC training programme runs from when the clocks go back in October until spring.

Tuesday: Running & swimming

Glasgow Club Maryhill, 34 Gairbraid Avenue, Glasgow, G20 8YE

Running:  6pm – 7pm A short run training session before the 7pm swim. Leaves the Maryhill Club pool foyer at 6.10pm prompt and returns in time for the swim. Suitable for all levels. £1.50.

Swimming: 7 – 8pm This session has two swim lanes. 1: Development/novice; 2: Improvers. Concentrates on front crawl technique and fitness covering a distance of around 1.5K – 2k.

Swimming: 8 – 9pm: 3 lanes for all abilities. Develops aerobic and anaerobic endurance, covering 1.5K – 3K.

Please note that places for each session are limited. Please sign up to the booking system. £3 per session; £2 students/concessions/16-18 yrs; U16s – free; non members £10 (after first free session).

Wednesday: Spin

ARC gym, Caledonian University, Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow, G4 0BA

7pm for 7.10pm start: An hour of triathlon-specific spin, focused on retaining and building cycling endurance over the winter.

Book in on the booking system. £4 on the door.

Thursday: Running

Southside session

Glasgow Club Bellahouston, 31 Bellahouston Drive, Glasgow G52 1HH.

Meet at front door at 6.30pm. Depart 6:45pm.

Group running sessions to develop technique, aerobic endurance and strength.  Open to all abilities and tailored accordingly. Wear reflective/bright clothing.

West End session

Western Baths, 12 Cranworth Street, Glasgow G12 8BZ.

Meet at 6.30pm for a 6:45pm start. One hour session.

Group running sessions to develop technique, aerobic endurance and strength.  Open to all abilities and tailored accordingly. Wear reflective/bright clothing.

Saturday: Rugged runs

Venue: TBC each time on Facebook.

A session that takes place every three weeks and alternates between the north of the city and the southside. These are off-road and take the form of a longer, steadier group run. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring food/drinks. Mobile phones are also recommended.

Saturday: Brick sessions

In front of Aulds, 1 Brownsfield Av, Inchinnan, Renfrew PA4 9RZ.

A bike-to-run session that takes place in between the rugged runs.

Be ready to ride at 9:30am. The ride is on the Georgetown Road TT route (approx 7 miles) followed by a 5k run.  Keep an eye on Facebook for details.

Sunday: Swimming

Western Baths, Cranworth Street, West End, Glasgow G12

7 – 8pm:  Meet in the foyer. (Note. You need to arrive around 20 mins beforehand to sign in and get changed). This session for all levels and focuses on developing aerobic and anaerobic endurance for triathlon events, covering between 1.5K – 3K.

8 – 9pm: Learners and improvers session, designed to suit beginners.
