GTC has been looking ahead at possible plans for hosting the club’s race programme next year in light of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. The races include the Big Bobble Hats Bishopbriggs Triathlon and the Kirkintilloch aquathlons.
It is not possible to know what 2021 will bring, especially with regards to mass participation events, but GTC has sought advice and conferred with the council-run facilities where the races are staged.
The outcome is that the club will defer the Briggs Triathlon to September 12, 2021. All existing roll-over entrants from 2020 will be contacted and advised of the new date. As before, a refund will be offered (net of Entry Central costs).
The aquathlons are considered to be more logistically feasible to run since the operational planning is far less onerous than that required to deliver a full triathlon.
Therefore, the dates of the Kirkintilloch Aquathlons will remain as previously agreed. The first is due to take place on Sunday March 14, 2021. There is a cut-off date for the final decision on this event of January 18.
The second aquathlon is set for Sunday August 15, 2021.
Further information about the races will be issued as and when the club has more details.
