GTC races at Stirling duathlons

Seventeen juniors and 11 adults from Glasgow Triathlon Club took part in a number of Stirling duathlon races on Sunday.

It was a beautifully sunny and warm day for the races, including the youth events, a sprint duathlon and the Scottish Championship Duathlon (standard distance).

The youths collected four podium places with Angus Millar coming 2nd and Fraser Donaldson 3rd in the male tristar 1 race; Mia Padmanabhan taking 2nd in the tristar 3 female race and Lucy Donaldson coming home 3rd in the tristar 2 female race.

Six adult GTC members raced the standard distance duathlon champs. Alison Winship Mackay was fourth in the female vets category, while Maggie Darroch was fourth in the female super vets race.

David Venables came 9th in the male super vets (he raced in this age category for the first time).

The Todd twins were competing in the senior male race, as well as against each other. Andrew took 22nd place, beating his brother Iain who was in 26th place.

Bill Rees was fifth in the vintage age group.

Five club members took part in the Stirling sprint duathlon, including Ken MacEwen, who picked up a podium place coming third in the vintage category.

Arlene Lewis was fourth in the female vets race, while James Overell was 11th and Paul Glen was 21st in the male vets race.

Colin Sinclair took part in  the senior males race, coming 12th. He said: “It was a very tough second run for me. It was great to see so many people from GTC at the event.”
